Accepting your organisation's rules
Why you are asked to tick each rule before entering the portal, when you may be asked again, and what is recorded.
This article is for members of an organisation that uses Portava.
In short
- You tick every rule, one at a time, before you can enter the portal.
- You are asked again only when the organisation says the rules have changed significantly.
- The portal keeps a dated record of the wording you agreed to.
Some organisations set out rules of engagement for their portal: how people behave in discussions, what the directory may be used for, and what happens if someone breaks them. If yours has, you are asked to accept the rules before you can go any further.
The rules screen
The screen is headed Rules of engagement, with a short introduction and the rules listed one by one. Tick each rule as you read it. The Accept and continue button stays greyed out until every box is ticked, and a count beside it shows how many are left.
There is no way past this screen. It is the one step you cannot finish later, because the rules are the condition of using the portal at all. Administrators are not asked, since they wrote the rules.
Being asked again
If your organisation changes its rules and decides the change is significant, you see the screen again the next time you sign in, with a note that the rules have changed since you last agreed. Small corrections do not trigger this.
What is recorded
When you accept, the portal stores the date and the exact wording you agreed to. Editing a rule later does not change that record. Your acceptance is included in the copy of your data you can download from Settings, then Privacy, and your organisation can see when you accepted.
Reading them again
There is not yet a page in the portal where you can re-read the rules after accepting them. If you want a copy, ask your organisation.
