Recording payments taken outside Stripe
How to record bank transfers, cheques and cash, and what expiry means for those memberships.
This article is for the administrators who run an organisation's Portava portal.
In short
- Record the payment from the member's membership, and a receipt is emailed.
- Offline memberships expire 30 days after their end date if not renewed.
Not every organisation takes every payment by card. A membership can be paid by bank transfer, cheque or cash, and your team records it in the portal.
Recording one
Open the member in Members, go to their membership, and choose Record payment. Enter the amount, the method, and the date. The membership's renewal date moves on by one period and a receipt is emailed.
How these memberships expire
A membership paid outside Stripe is not renewed automatically. If no payment is recorded, it expires 30 days after its end date. Members are reminded 30 days before renewal as usual, so there is time to pay.
In the figures
Recorded payments count in your membership revenue on the Dashboard alongside Stripe payments. They are listed on the member's record and under Billing in Operations.
