Paying for your membership

How joining and renewing are paid, what happens if a card fails, and where your invoices are.

This article is for members of an organisation that uses Portava.

Your membership is paid to the organisation, not to Portava. Here is what happens and where to look.

Joining and renewing

When you join, you pay by card at a secure Stripe checkout page. After that, Stripe renews your membership automatically, every month or every year depending on the membership tier you chose.

You get a reminder email 30 days before each renewal, and a receipt after every successful payment.

If a payment fails

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries your card itself. Your membership is not cancelled while that happens. If your card has changed, contact the organisation's team through Support. You cannot yet change the card yourself in the portal.

Paying another way

Some organisations also accept bank transfer, cheque or cash. The team records those payments for you. A membership paid this way expires 30 days after its end date if it has not been renewed, so keep an eye on the renewal date.

Where to see your membership

Your tier, renewal date and receipts are on your Billing page, under Settings. If your company pays for your membership, the invoices go to whoever holds the company's membership rather than to you.

Prices and what is included

Prices and what each tier includes are shown on the organisation's join page and on your Billing page. If something looks wrong, contact the organisation's team through Support.
