Joining through the public join page
The steps on the join page, what happens after you confirm, and why you may be asked to wait or to pay.
This article is for members of an organisation that uses Portava.
In short
- Choose a plan, create an account, add business details if the plan needs them, then review.
- What happens next depends on whether your organisation reviews applications and when it takes payment.
- One membership per person: if you already belong to the portal, sign in instead.
Some organisations let you join their portal yourself, without an invitation. The join page takes a few short steps.
The steps
- Choose a plan. Each plan says whether it is for individuals or businesses, and whether you pay monthly or annually.
- Create your account. Enter your name, email address and a password of at least 8 characters. A verification link is emailed to you and lasts 24 hours. Verify your address, then sign in to carry on.
- Your business. Business plans ask for your business name, and optionally its industry and website. On a plan open to anyone, leave the name blank to join as an individual.
- Review and confirm. Check everything, then confirm.
What happens next
If the plan is free and your organisation admits people automatically, you are in straight away.
If the plan is paid, you are usually taken to a secure checkout to pay by card through Stripe, and your membership starts when payment completes. If you leave before paying, sign in again to finish.
If your organisation reviews applications, you wait for a decision. Some organisations take payment when you apply and others once you are approved; the page you land on tells you which.
Good to know
- One membership per person. If you already belong to the portal, the join page sends you to sign in.
- Some organisations only accept certain email domains. The page tells you if yours is not one.
- Business plans let you invite colleagues once you are in, up to the plan's seats.
