Audiences and segments
How to build the group a campaign or survey goes to.
This article is for the administrators who run an organisation's Portava portal.
In short
- Audiences are rules that are re-evaluated each time they are used.
- Unsubscribed and bounced addresses are excluded automatically.
An audience is a saved group of members. It might be everyone on a tier, everyone in a sector, or everyone who has not signed in for three months. Campaigns and surveys are sent to audiences.
Building one
Open Audiences under Communications and choose New audience. Combine conditions such as tier, status, sector, join date, last sign-in and event attendance. The count updates as you go.
Save it with a name your team will recognise.
Keeping them current
An audience is a rule rather than a fixed list. It is re-evaluated every time it is used, so a member who lapses drops out and a new joiner is picked up.
Who never receives email
Members who have unsubscribed from a type of email, or whose address has bounced, are left out automatically. This applies whatever the audience says.
